On Monday, March 2, NAC Elementary will enter its 6th year of March Madness! What started as a fun, collective way to get through the long month of March 2021 when we were all struggling through the ongoing restrictions and challenges of the pandemic era, has become a school-wide tradition and joyful celebration of reading!
This is the second year of the "Super Bowl of Books" football theme -- after the first two years of the March Madness basketball theme, students recommended using different sports as the theme, so we've also used Soccer and Football now as the theme of the tournament.
Students will watch two read-aloud videos in their classrooms each day and vote for which book they want to see move on in the book tournament. Throughout the month, students and staff study the tournament bracket posters in the halls and the digital bracket on the Daily Announcements page as the competition heats up. When we finally get down to the last two books at the end of the month, the whole school is encouraged to dress up to support their "team" (book) with the colors or characters of that book. As we always say: MAY THE BEST BOOK WIN!
