NAC Families,

As a result of the current surge in positive COVID-19 cases in Clinton County and the impact it is having on our hospital in Plattsburgh, the decision has been made to join CVES BOCES and CV-Tech by extending our current in-person learning “Pause” through Friday, January 22nd.  We are now planning to return to in-person learning on Monday, January 25th, however the situation surrounding us will continue to be monitored and further decisions may come about between now and then.

We will continue to re-evaluate the available data to continue making informed decisions.  As mentioned in previous messages, we understand the potential hardship this may create for students and families in the region. However, the health and safety of our students, staff, and community remains our first priority.

One such concern that has been raised by parents is the struggle to teach your children at home.  Please understand that we at NAC are not asking for you to teach your children.  We are only asking for your support in encouraging your children to complete their required assignments and join the scheduled Google Meets and classes that they must.  If your child needs help with a topic, our teachers are ready and willing to manage the teaching that some parents have complained they are struggling with.  All your child or you as a parent/guardian needs to do is reach out to the appropriate teacher via their Google Classroom, email, or make a phone call to their school building requesting help.  The help might not be as immediate as any of us would like, but our teachers are ready and waiting for the opportunity.  Aside from academic help, please remind your children that if they are seeking any mental health support that they are encouraged to reach out to their guidance counselor and/or school psychologist as well.

Please continue following the expected social distancing norms as well as mask wearing with limited public exposure.  The health of our school district and community relies on it.

                                                                                                                        Sincerely,

                                                                                                                        James C. Knight, Jr.
