Major Update to the Recently Mailed Budget Newsletter

We recently sent out the required annual Budget Newsletter within the State’s designated 14 day timeframe, and as of late yesterday have a very important update for everyone to be aware of.  In the Budget Newsletter an estimated tax rate per $1,000 of real property was provided at $18.34 based on the information that we had when the Budget Newsletter was printed.  The information that we received yesterday from the Clinton County Real Property Office included the release of the 2022 – 2023 estimated assessments, which resulted in a major change from the dollar amount listed in our Budget Newsletter.  The great news is that our estimated tax rate per $1,000 of real property has been adjusted down to $15.66.  This adjustment is good news, however the actual number does not become official until after the timeframe for appeals on adjusted assessments is completed, which is normally sometime in July.  Fortunately the actual rate determined after the appeals process will be very close to matching the most currently adjusted rate provided, $15.66 per $1,000 of real property.

As a reminder, the Northern Adirondack Central School District does not determine property assessments and is not increasing our proposed budget as a result of increased assessment values.  In fact, the School Budget includes a Tax Levy amount which is a fixed amount of money that does not change with an increase or a decrease in assessment values.  Your estimated tax rate has decreased because of increases in assessed property values set by the Clinton County Real Property Office.  Once the assessment and appeals process is final in late July, we will keep you informed and update you on the eventually finalized tax rate.
