Hello NAC Families!
This month's Parent Tip is focused on reading fluency. Reading fluency is an important step in your child’s journey as a reader. It means being able to read smoothly, accurately, and with expression so that reading sounds natural and makes sense.
This poster highlights simple, fun activities you can use at home to support your child’s fluency. These activities are designed to build confidence and improve reading skills.
You do not need special materials or long practice sessions—just a few minutes each day can make a big difference! Reading together, practicing favorite books, and encouraging expression all help your child grow into a strong, confident reader.
Thank you for supporting your child’s learning!

1,500 eggs were collected in record time on Saturday during Builders and Key Club's Easter Egg Hunt. Due to the cold weather temperatures, we were fortunate to be able to move it inside. The middle school gym, high school gym, and cafeteria were the ideal spots for the different age groups to fill their Easter baskets. Thank you to everyone who came out!

Dear NAC Families,
During the month of April, we will be learning about Habit #7: Sharpen the Saw. This habit is about finding the right balance, learning new things, and becoming the best version of yourself. Here are the main points that you can discuss with your child:
● I exercise, eat healthy foods, and get enough sleep.
● I manage my time between school, extracurricular activities, family, and friends.
● I am always learning ways to become a better person.

Bobcat March Madness is drawing to a close! We are finally down to the last two books in the NAC Elementary March Madness Book Tournament! The final matchup on Friday, March 27 will be between "The Boxcar Children" and "The Monster at the End of This Book." On Friday, the whole school is encouraged to dress up to support the "team" (book) that they want to win. Costumes do not have to be elaborate -- students can wear the colors of the main characters of that book or make a simple sign with a catch-phrase. Parents can check the Rooms announcement for costume suggestions to help.
Check back Friday afternoon to see who wins! Thank you for supporting our whole-school reading event, and may the best book win!

Hello NAC Families,
This month's Parent Tip is focused on oral language and vocabulary. Oral language and vocabulary are important parts of a child’s learning and development. Children build these skills by listening, talking, asking questions, and interacting with the people around them every day. A strong vocabulary helps children express their ideas, understand others, and succeed in reading and writing. Families play a big role in supporting language growth through simple activities like talking during daily routines, reading together, asking questions, and encouraging conversations. Every word and interaction helps children learn and grow. Please see the attached flyer to learn more!

Dear NAC Families,
During the month of March, we will be learning about Habit #6: Synergize. This habit is about working together. Here are the main points that you can discuss with your child:
● I can work in groups with other people.
● I appreciate other people’s strengths and try to learn from them.
● I realize that more can be done when we work together as a team.

Happy Valentine's Day! This is Key Club and Builders Club's 5th year making Valentines for senior citizens. Key Club and Builders Club were joined by K-Kids, M/HS art students, ES art students, and students in grades PreK-2 in making Valentines for senior citizens residing in local senior housings and nursing homes. 635 items were collected and sent to 13 locations in our area!

● I listen to others without interrupting.
● I raise my hand and wait to be called on instead of blurting out.
● I try to understand how other people are feeling.

NAC Elementary is proudly participating in The Great Kindness Challenge, a week-long program from January 26-30, dedicated to creating a culture of kindness and compassion in communities worldwide. We will encourage all students to complete as many acts of kindness as possible at school and hope they feel inspired to continue them at home. Together, let's lift each other up, cheer each other on and show the world that KINDNESS MATTERS!
